How to get to the Sacromonte Abbey?

 

By Bus: C34 mini-bus line from Plaza Nueva every 20 minutes. The journey takes 10 minutes and costs € 1,40 per person.

Important:

The times marked in blue are the departures of the C34 line that do arrive at the Abbey. The rest of the C34 line buses stop about a 10-minute walk from the Abbey.

By taxi: Taxis in Granada are very affordable. It takes 10 minutes from Plaza Nueva and costs less than € 8. They take up to four passengers, however, you can book a special one for more people or for a handicapped person.

By car:

  • From Granada’s town center: Follow Avenida de la Constitución, Avenida de Madrid, leave the Alhambra beer factory to your left, follow Avenida de Murcia and Carretera de Murcia (A-4002). Before entering El Fargue neighbourhood, turn right before reaching El Caldero Restaurant on your left, and follow Camino Viejo del Fargue, then take the first turn left towards the Abbey. It takes 15 minutes.
  • From Motorway A92, coming from Guadix, Almeria and Murcia. Take the exit to El Fargue, follow the road until you pass El Fargue neighbourhood, turn left after El Caldero Restaurant on your right, and follow Camino Viejo del Fargue, then take the first turn left towards the Abbey. It takes 15 minutes.

 

Walking from Plaza Nueva:

  • Route 1: Plaza Nueva, turn left to Carcel Alta street, follow San Juan de los Reyes street, Cuesta del Chapiz, turn right towards Camino del Sacromonte until you get to the Santo Sepulcro (Holy Shrine) church, pass through the Abbey’s entrance arch and follow the road until you reach the main building. It takes 30 minutes.
  • Route 2: Plaza Nueva, Plaza de Santa Ana, Carrera del Darro, Paseo de los Tristes, Cuesta del Chapiz, turn right towards Camino del Sacromonte until you get to the Santo Sepulcro (Holy Shrine) church, pass through the Abbey’s entrance arch and follow the road until you reach the main building. It takes 30 minutes.
